Big News!! and a Summer Craft

I'm hired!! I'm officially going to be a fifth grade teacher this school year at a Title I school!1 I'm super duper excited for the year to come. I'll be working with English Language Learners as well so this year will be extremely interesting, but I'm excited for the challenge. If any of you have some resources for working with ELLs I would love to know all about them.

Welllll anyway, on to the crafting. One of my best friends, who is also a fifth grade teacher, and I decided to meet up every week and make some sort of craft. This last week we made something for our classroom.

This craft was really simple, but i love the outcome. I'm going to put it up somewhere in my new classroom (YAYYYYYYY). We bought the letters, painted them in a corresponding color and let them dry for a little bit. Then we traced the letters on to a piece of scrapbook paper, cut them out, and Modge Podged them on to the letters and got the above result. SUPER EASY! SUPER CHEAP! SUPER CUTE!!

Anyway that's all for now, I'm sure there will be more to post about in the upcoming weeks!

Tech in the Classroom

So as a graduation present to myself I bought a brand new iPad. I'm already addicted to it, whether it's checking my email, playing some mindless game, or reading using the iBooks app. I absolutely love it. Now, as I'm researching and looking into things for next year I'm coming across a lot of bloggers/websites, that talk about using the iPad in the classroom.

I recently downloaded the TeacherPal app which works as a class roster, seat arranger, and grade book app. I'm anxious to use it in real life though haha.

Have you lovely ladies used any fun gadgets in the classroom? If so, what were they and how did they work?

I Did It and June Currently

I did it! I graduated and it feels great.

(Me and the bf on Graduation Day!!)

However, now it is on to the hard part, finding employment. Do you ladies have any tips on what to do/say/bring to interviews with principals? My program had us generate electronic Portfolios, but I know that it's common practice to bring in something tangible to interviews. I've already been hired by HR, now I need to find the school/grade that fits me perfectly :)

Also, I joined the Party over at Farley's and filled out my June Currently :D Feel free to do the same!!

Here's to bigger and better things.
